Beyond Salem spoilers reveal a popular pair has returned to the DOOL world. At least, for now. Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis (Chandler Massey and Zach Tinker) were announced as part of the cast early on. And the first episode featured the pair quite a bit, although they aren’t doing as well as some fans might have hoped. Recently, Massey opened up about his return to the DOOL-verse. Let’s see what he had to say.
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: The Three What?
First, WilSon is part of the show, thanks to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), who decided to pay his friends a visit after Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) made some snarky comments about his friend #fail in not keeping in touch.
Chad had no idea what he was walking into. It seems WilSon is in a bit of trouble, as Sonny is convinced Will’s mysterious behavior over a “story” means he’s cheating. Chad was a lot of fun in these scenes, actually, as he played a voice of reason, trying to talk Sonny down. Ultimately, he ended up going along with Sonny’s plan to storm in on this “meeting.”
In an interview about the show, Massey spoke a bit about the bond between the characters, and we got a laugh out of how he put it. Said Massey, “Will, Sonny, and Chad are sort of like the three… either the three musketeers or the three stooges, I’m not sure which one.”
He also opened up about Will’s state of mind, adding, “Simply put, Will’s family. He moved to Phoenix and he feels a little isolated over there. So, any family member would be more than welcome.”
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: New Face, Same Character
During the interview, he also spoke about the new Sonny. Pointing out Smith had been the only one to play the character, while Will’s been played by others over the years, he said, “It’s always been Freddie and he did a masterful job.
I worked with him for hundreds of episodes and you get used to seeing the same face.” But he was quick to add, “I remember the very first scenes that we did I could tell Zach’s got it and he’s like, ‘We’re not going to lose a beat!’ Freddie left like humungous shoes to fill but I think we’ve found the exact right person to fill them.”
Personally, we agree with that last one. We loved the Smith/Massey pairing on DOOL, but we do believe Tinker is going a great job so far. We wouldn’t have been surprised to see some iffy moments early in the show, but it felt natural right off. We’re curious to see how he handles going head-to-head with Sonny’s nemesis, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart).
‘Beyond Salem’ Spoilers: The Future
We were surprised to learn the actor is currently working as a data scientist. However, he does have a Christmas movie in the works, as well as some other things. While he didn’t specify what these other things are, we’re looking forward to seeing if there are more film/tv projects on that list.
He also spoke about how fast he accepted the invitation to join, and how he won’t rule out a return to Salem full-time. He spoke about it being a place that’s special to him and his love for the people there. Check out the full article to see more on this and what else Massey said about his return. You’ll also learn why he wanted a change in filming and why it’s hard working with Rikaart.
