Meghan Markle is about to celebrate a huge milestone and of course, a lot of fans and critics alike can’t help but wonder how the British Royal Family alike. With the Duchess of Sussex’s 40th birthday coming up, there’s one royal expert who says that the royals will wish her a happy birthday but “through gritted teeth.” Here’s what you need to know.
Things just haven’t been the same between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family ever since the couple pulled the plug on their working relationship with the royals.
If that weren’t enough, they seemingly threw everyone under the bus in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year. And now that it’s almost Meghan’s birthday, a lot of people aren’t surprised that the royals are keeping their distance from her, even though they are being forced to ‘save face,’ so to speak, in public.
British Royal Family To Try And Make Peace With Meghan Markle – At Least In Public
It has been a royal tradition to wish family members a happy birthday on social media, even though they are not obliged to. But since Meghan’s upcoming birthday is such a big day, the royals will have to say something on social media, otherwise they will get nothing but criticism for ignoring her, especially after all of the allegations she has made against them.
Royal author and critic Phil Dampier put it this way, “I think it is likely they will send a public message through gritted teeth. I think Charles, the Queen, and William and Kate don’t want to make the situation worse by having a public slanging match with them, but privately I think they are very upset by how things have turned out.”
If that weren’t enough, Dampier added that they aren’t “obliged to give her messages on her birthday” but claimed “they don’t want to make it worse.”
