ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal they went there. After years of scheming and hiding his darker impulses, Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is no more.
He fell down the stairs after a struggle with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton), who desperately tried to stop him after Peter threw away a dose of the antidote Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) life depends on. Here’s why we think Peter got what he deserved and why we believe his death is far from the end of the story.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Hubris
First, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Peter has been quite prideful. Or delusional. Whatever. The point is, he has fooled himself that a happy, normal life with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and the kids is possible. Especially after he was exposed by Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).
He was so desperate to have what he thought he deserved, he blinded himself to reality. He’d gone too far, too often to turn back now. The sad thing about his story and end is, it didn’t have to happen. If he’d just been honest about his part in the original memory swap thing right off, he might have had a chance.
By continuing to hide it, he kept digging deeper holes until there was nowhere left to hide. Full disclosure would have been a great step toward proving he really wanted to change and was committed to a better life.
Then there’s his ego and controlling nature. If he’d just handed Finn the dose and arranged for more to be delivered, nothing would have happened. We believe Finn would be too focused on keeping Chase alive to worry about Peter running for it.
So long as the doses keep coming until a cure’s found. Instead, he pulled the tough-guy act and threw away the dose to punish Anna for talking. That and the horrible things he’s done prove that while his fate could have been avoided, it was more than deserved.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: What he left behind
However, Peter’s death leads to a couple of issues. First, obviously, being the antidote situation. Only Not-Chloe Jennings (Kimberly J. Brown) apparently knew where it was and had access. As her status is currently unknown, but not looking good, we doubt there’s an in there.
However, we also have a secret that could stay buried with Peter. Namely, the fake DNA results that said Finn is Chase’s father. We see the characters continuing to believe that for a long time to come. Of course, in Soaps these things always come to light. But it’s likely to be a while. Of course, Peter’s death might complicate someone else’s situation.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Baby scam busted?
Maxie went to great lengths to keep her baby away from daddy. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) is currently passing the child off as her own with Maxie’s blessing. But it’s inevitable they’ll find Peter’s body soon.
And when they do, will Maxie’s maternal instincts demand getting her baby back sooner than planned? We can see it. Maxie’s clearly in a lot of pain and went through a huge emotional trauma. She might not be thinking clearly enough to stay the course if there’s no need.
Either way, this whole thing is going to create a mess. No matter how Maxie plays this, everything thinks that is Brook Lynn’s baby. Her family’s going to suffer a harsh blow at the truth. And let’s not forget Valentin.
This could push him over an edge, while Maxie’s family might have some complicated feelings about her lie. After all, they think that baby’s been stolen, and they’re likely hurting over that. This is going to be a rough ride ahead, and we expect there to be more to come.
