Every girl growing up wanted a mom like Lauren Graham’s Lorelei Gilmore. Though the actress rocketed to stardom on the Gilmore Girls and carried on to have a successful career in television, film and as an author, Lauren recently revealed her roots were in soap operas- namely All My Children where she got to play against the legendary Susan Lucci!
Lauren’s television debut in 1994, playing Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) assistant on All My Children was a learning experience for the fast talking actress. She admits she left her script at home, even though this was the first speaking role of her career, and had to make her lines up as she went!
‘All My Children’ Spoilers: Blast From the Past! Look Who Played Erica Kane’s Assistant.
Lauren dubbed the experience “surreal”, saying she had grown up watching the ABC soap opera and “was intimidated.”
She also recalled how impeccable Susan looked, even at a 5am call. “I don’t know; the whole thing blew my mind!” she told Ryan Seacrest on Live with Kelly and Ryan.
In a different interview, this time with SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw, Lauren revealed that she may have left Pine Valley in the past, but it might not always be the case for Stars Hollow!
Lauren has a Gilmore Girls clause written into all of her other work contracts so she could be available if there was ever a revival or another spinoff of the beloved series.
“I put that window into all my new jobs just in case,” Lauren said. She was quick to add, “And it’s not — I don’t want to start any new rumors — it’s not for any concrete reason.”
So, while Lauren has a “loyalty and an openness” to working with Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, fans should not start popping the corn just yet.
While Lauren even made mention of being excited for a possible Gilmore Christmas movie, she admitted that was just her own creativity at play.
All My Children, on the other hand, is getting the reboot treatment with former AMC reel and real couple, Kelly Ripa (Hayley Vaughan Santos) and Mark Consuelos (Mateo Santos), bringing the series back to primetime under the name “Pine Valley”. The rebooted mystery is tipped to air sometime this year!
