ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) recently came to a terrible end. Another obstacle in the way of Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) happiness, of which there’s a growing list, Franco succumbed to a gunshot.
Currently, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) stands accused, while the “Get Peter” club is trying to find a way to prove he is the actual murderer. Of course, there’s a twist to this story. Let’s talk the latest.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: He’s back
At the time, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal there was talk that Howarth would be back. Now, we’ve got the confirmation. According to a Soap Opera Digest interview, he’ll be returning in May.
And to quote the head writers, he’ll make a “memorable debut”. This news has fans debating online about what will happen. Let’s take a look at some of the possibilities and what we believe will be the case.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Options
To start, there’s obviously the idea of Franco not having died. That his “death” was one big scam to aid in the quest to destroy Peter. We’ll get into our feelings about that one in a bit. Elsewhere, some are pointing out that a lawsuit was recently settled.
This would allow GH to use characters from the show One Life to Live. And, while we weren’t watching during the time, we’ve seen talk about how he played his OLTL character, Todd Manning, on GH for a while. It was the suit that ended that.
Then there’s the other possibility. Some say he’ll be coming back as an entirely new character. Someone who’ll make a splash, given the description.
Popular opinion seems to favor the idea of Franco being alive, as there are fans who want Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and her family to be happy. Finally, there’s the idea of him returning as Drew Cain (Billy Miller). Here’s where we stand.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Our take
Obviously, soaps are no stranger to “back from the dead” plots. Or unknown twins, which is something else that could happen. And the description could also fit the twin thing. However, we’re going to go on record as saying we just don’t think Franco’s alive.
That morgue scene with Cameron Webber (William Lipton) was heart-breaking, and everyone connected with Franco seems too genuinely pained by his loss.
Not to mention, we just had a similar story with Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) and her believed-dead father, Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews). We really don’t want to see this recycle again. Not that fast, for sure.
Not to mention, it seems overkill to us. Yes, they might have wanted to make it look real at first to keep Franco safe. But why carry this on so long? Peter shot him and there’s no getting around that. All they’d have to do is have him formally accused by his victim. Then, they could gather whatever else they need while Peter sits in jail.
If he’s not a totally new character, this is why we think he’ll be either Todd or Drew. Drew’s body was never found, so there is definitely a door open. They’ve already had a couple of people play Drew, so why not a third? There’s definitely a lot to resolve there.
As for Todd, fans pointed out there could be an opening there as well, as someone is trying to buy the Invader. But we’re still thinking a new character, thanks to the choice of the word “debut”. We’ll see. Personally, we enjoy the actor and think he’ll do great, no matter who he plays.
