‘General Hospital (GH)’ spoilers reveal Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) has branched out from his work in Port Charles and other acting projects. His recent memoir is one, but there’s something else that might have had a big part in the creation of the memoir.
We’re talking about his Instagram State of Mind chats, where the actor shares his personal struggles with others. In the past year or so, the Instagram chats evolved into YouTube videos. And he’s gotten together an impressive list of fellow soap stars to join him, as well as family. Let’s take a look at the latest episode and where he and his guest’s characters stand.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Welcome, Stephen A. Smith
Benard’s latest guest was broadcaster and actor Stephen A. Smith. General Hospital spoilers reveal he plays Brick on the series, an associate of Sonny’s. Last we remember seeing the character, he and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) were discussing a recent attack and the upcoming meeting of the Five Families. Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) had crashed the meeting, and we loved the interactions between the actors.
During the interview, he indicated there’s more ahead for Brick, so we’re sure to see him popping back in town before too long. It will likely be a necessity. After all, with Jason locked up until his murder trial, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will be overwhelmed and need some help. Who knows, she could even enlist him in her fight to prove Jason’s innocence. We’ll see.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The interview
As for the interview itself, we definitely recommend seeing it for yourself. The conversation was relaxed and gave a vibe of familiarity that speaks to their friendship. Of course, Smith revealed there’s a lot of reverence on his end, professionally.
He sees Benard as a big star on the series, and admires his work, as well as the work of Wright and Burton. We loved hearing how seriously he takes stepping in front of the camera with these actors.
In a more personal moment, Smith opened up about the loss of his mother and the depression that followed. It was a moving confessional that we’ve come to expect from this webshow. Benard definitely gets the emotion and honesty out of his guests, and we think their closeness on set helps to achieve this.
Besides all that, Smith opened up about his work as a broadcaster and gave fans a hint at his future. It seems Benard isn’t the only author in the room. Smith will soon be releasing his own book, slated for 2022. Check out the video above to see the conversation.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: What about Sonny?
As for Sonny, he’s been out of commission lately, working at the Tan-O while he continues to have no memory of his past. We have a feeling this whole arc, especially Nina Reeve’s (Cynthia Wators) part in it, won’t end very well. They seem to be getting closer the longer she stays in town, and she also continues to struggle more by the day with what to do with what she knows about Sonny.
If and when the Corinthos family learns she’s been spending all this time with Sonny without telling him who he is, we think even Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will be demanding Nina stay far away from Wiley. And let’s not even talk about how Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will likely react.
Assuming, of course, Nina doesn’t have any accidents during that tour of the town. We’re not really trusting her guide anymore than Sonny does. Here’s hoping we see Smith and Benard back together in Port Charles soon.
