The Ellen DeGeneres controversy just gets messier by the day. After several of Ellen’s former staff and crew members came forward to claim that the daytime talk show host is anything but nice, the television personality has reportedly sent a memo with her heartfelt apology to her staff.
However, some people believe that she’s still not taking responsibility for the toxic environment at the Ellen DeGeneres Show and that she has thrown her producers under the bus instead. Here’s what you need to know.
Did Ellen DeGeneres Just Throw Her Staff Under The Bus?
According to People Magazine, Ellen is yet to make any comments about the allegations that have been made against her or about the sexual misconduct by some of her producers, but she did send out an interesting memo to her staff. It begins with, “Hey everybody – it’s Ellen.
On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
However, the next part of her memo sounds as though she isn’t looking to take the blame for everything that has transpired so far, even though several people have called her out for her toxic ways. Apparently, Ellen is the kind of person who doesn’t like it when someone talks to her without being spoken to first, thinks you need to go home and take a shower if she believes you smell and wants every single guest to fawn over her, regardless of what their Hollywood status may be.
Ellen continued, “I could not have the success I’ve had without all of your contributions. My name is on the show and everything we do and I take responsibility for that. Alongside Warner Bros, we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues..”
She concluded her memo by saying that she wants everyone to have fun at work again, but it might be a little too late for that. The Ellen DeGeneres Show workplace is reportedly under investigation by WarnerMedia after several complaints have been made by the behind-the-scenes crew.
A new report says that executives from the show producer Telepictures and distributor Warner Bros. Television sent a memo to their staff last week saying that they have are currently working with an employee relations group and a third party firm who will interview both current and past employers about some of their experience while working on the set.
