Netflix is certainly the gift that keeps on giving, especially when it comes to all of the juicy behind-the-scenes drama that fans don’t often get to see or hear about behind closed palace doors. The online streaming giant has just announced that there will be a 6th but final season of the much-hyped about The Crown, which initially was expected to end its run after the fifth season. Here’s what you need to know.
The Crown, which focuses on all of the trials and tribulations of the British royal family and Queen Elizabeth’s very long reign throughout the years, will be back with one additional but final season, according to the series creator Peter Morgan. “As we started to discuss the story lines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,” Morgan said in a statement. This comes as a surprise (but a delightful one) to fans after Morgan, who is also the executive producer, explained his prior decision to bring the show to an end earlier this year.
