Looks like July 13th, 2020 is a day that will live in infamy. After being missing for almost a week, the body of Naya Rivera was found floating in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Her little boy, Josey, who was found asleep on the boat was the only one to witness her demise and said that his Mom jumped off the boat to take a swim but she never came back up.
It is believed that she drowned, but under what circumstances we don’t exactly know yet. Authorities say however that in the afternoon, which is when Rivera went missing, is when a lot of currents appear. It was then said that while Naya must have summoned the strength to get her son back on the boat safely, it appears that the currents were too strong for her to withstand.

The only other adult life vest was on the boat with Josey, Naya was not wearing one at the time of her death. Naya Rivera was most known for her character on Glee (my personal favorite), Santana Lopez. Santana was the fiery latina girl who’s performance of “If I die young” brought us all to tears when fellow co-star Cory Monteith died.
Little did we know back then that that song would be rather prophetic in the time of her passing. If you know the lyrics to that song, you’ll see what I mean, right now they are particularly haunting. Out of respect for the situation, I’ll advise you to do a google search on those lyrics.
Several of her Glee Co-Stars have posted on social media in memorium. “How can you convey all your love and respect for someone in one post? How can you summarize a decade of friendship and laughter in words alone? If you were friends with Naya Rivera you simply can’t.” said Chris Colfer, who played Kurt Hummel.
Jane Lynch said “Rest, sweet Naya. What a force you were. Love and peace to your family members.” We cannot believe that she’s gone, we’re saddened that this story didn’t have a happy ending and that another family is grieving tonight, another young child has lost their Mother. Remember to send love and prayers for these families, they need it right now.
