In this clip, Michael Watson selfishly chooses his lunch instead of offering first-dibs to wife Meka Jones. Pastor Cal bluntly sided with Meka and appeared shocked when Meka disclosed similar stories about Michael.

Pastor Cal revealed his feelings about the clip, stating, “I think Michael is being ridiculous.” The marriage expert elaborated, “I think he’s checked out. He seems to be completely indifferent here, and indifference is probably the worst state to be in because it says, ‘I don’t value you.’ And anything you don’t value, you don’t take care of.”
The pastor explained that it is common sense to think of your partner in a marriage. He illustrated this viewpoint when he said, “If I have food, it’s like, ‘Here, honey.’ I mean, that’s just a basic thing that you do! But [Michael]’s over there doing the ‘food happy dance’ while he’s eating chocolate pudding, like, ‘I got pudding!’ Give your wife what she wants!”

When host Jamie Otis (MAFS season 1 cast member) asked Meka if Michael displayed behavior like this on a regular basis, Meka gave viewers another eye-opening example. She said, “We were filming and he literally baked a cake, or like, cupcakes. And he offered some to everybody on production and not me.”
Meka emphasized, “Literally. He was going around saying, like, ‘Hey, do you want some cake?! Do you want some cake?’ And I was like, ‘Michael, that is something simple. Why wouldn’t you offer me some?’ And he was like, ‘Oh, I didn’t make a lot of it.’ “ Pastor Cal exclaimed, “Wow!” He appeared floored by this news, as did Jamie Otis.

Meka’s venting did not stop there. “Yeah, and he’ll walk in a room and won’t say, ‘Hi,’ to me. He’ll speak to everybody on production but won’t say anything to me,” Meka claimed. “Like, that is what I’ve been dealing with! He’s not considerate, at all.” Meka understood her complaints may sound like small things, but she explained that little things can add up over time.
The couple is now divorced, as the season 10 finale unveiled. Meka chose to end the marriage, primarily because of Michael’s lying problem. However, it appears that Michael was also not ready for marriage. A lifetime commitment requires compassion and compromise to be successful. Hopefully, Michael learns from his mistakes and will become a more giving, honest person in future relationships.
