Coronation Street spoilers finds that while all of the major soaps, daytime and primetime shows and even big blockbuster movies are suspending production or delaying their red carpet debuts until the coronavirus outbreak finally subsides, it looks like there’s at least one series that is keeping its doors open. New reports indicate that Coronation Street will continue to film, but the producers have made some adjustments to the show’s filming schedule. Here’s what you need to know.

While the BBC has decided to suspend filming of future Eastenders episodes, network executives at ITV have said that both Coronation Street and Emmerdale will continue to film in Manchester and Leeds, “while carefully adhering to the latest health advice.” To date, the Covid-19 outbreak has infected more than 200,000 people worldwide, with a death toll reaching 8,000. However, that number is expected to climb in the coming days. In the UK, 70 people have died from the coronavirus but that number is expected to rise, too.

From March 30, Emmerdale will air Monday to Friday at 7pm and Coronation Street Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm. “With this change of transmission pattern it will ensure we have great new soap episodes coming to air every weekday night until at least the early summer,” ITV said.

A spokesperson for the network said that the soap usually doesn’t reflect on contemporary issues because the show shoots so far in advance. “However we are going to use the soaps to remind people of important public health issues such as the need to wash their hands,” the spokesperson added. In the U.S., all of the four major daytime television shows – which includes The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital – have all suspended filming until further notice. However, General Hospital announced that it expects to return to its normal filming schedule by April 15th.
