NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Whatever Happened To Isabella Toscano (Staci Greason) On DOOL? Here’s What You Need To Know!

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that fans will remember a certain name, and that is Isabella Toscano (Staci Greason). Now, back when I watched I simply knew her as “Isabella” because I was a kid and I never thought that the last names of fictional characters were important but I also knew that she was in love with John. And John and Isabella made a really good couple, Don’t get me wrong, I’m a John and Marlena stan, but before there was John and Marlena, there was John and Isabella. Or wait a minute, Roman and Isabella. Ahem, excuse me. Yeah this happened back when John was masquerading as Roman. That happened? That was a thing? Yup, sure was. The 1980’s were a wild time, ladies and gents.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: She was kind of a bad-ass

So, when Isabella first came on the scene in Salem, she wasn’t some delicate flower of a socialite, she was actually an inmate and an insane asylum! The daughter of Loretta and Ernesto Toscano (another name that some of you OG fans may recognize), she had been committed by her older sister, Marina Toscano (Hunter Tylo) and soon escaped and befriended Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), in fact he had helped her escape and hid her in his loft until they could discover the Toscano family treasure which was something Marina was also looking for but somehow, Marina wound up dead. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) was set to take the fall but Roman (then played by Drake Hogestyn) and Isabella teamed up to find out who the real killer was and guess what? It was Isabella herself! Kayla was freed, and Isabella got acquitted on grounds of self-defense.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: It wouldn’t be a soap without a game of musical spouses!

She and ‘Roman’ were happy together until Roman’s heretofore dead wife, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) wound up back in town and then as soaps often dictate, ‘Roman’ went back to his wife. But then, we found out that actually, Roman was not Roman after all, he was actually John Black, the real Roman Brady (then played by Wayne Northrup) came back and Marlena went back to him for the kids’ sake because Sami and Eric were young back then and needed a Dad. It devastated John, but then he was free to be with Isabella, which was just beautiful. They got together and soon had little Brady Victor Black (now played by Eric Martsolf, yes, THAT Brady!), but soon after that Isabella started getting horrible, unexplained back pain. That was when Dr. Carly Manning (Crystal Chapell) diagnosed her with late-stage pancreatic cancer. She informed John that she wanted to go back to her real home to die, so they went to Venice and in the saddest scene ever, she asks John to dance with her one last time. He picks her up, dances with her…. and then she falls limp in his arms. Talk amongst yourselves, I’m verklempt!

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: But that’s not the last we’ve seen of her

Isabella still sometimes comes around, she has a pretty active afterlife, even though she died in 1992. The one instance that I remember well is when Marlena was possessed and there was an instance where Satan impersonated Isabella and basically told John that he was going to lose Marlena and her soul and then when John renounced her she became this ugly demonic visage and roared at him. But then a few days later when things had blown over with Lucifer, the real Isabella came to him and assured him that she was alright, she was fine in Heaven and he would be too. It was a touching moment. There was also the moment in 2002 when Brady had a visit from his Mom, when Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) had cancer and he was afraid she would die like his Mom did. This appearance was decidedly softer and less… hardcore, than her 95 appearance. She comforted Brady a great deal, quoting Dante at him. It was really sweet, she told them just to love Chloe in her time of need. What great advice for a Mom to give a son. She’s shown up quite a few more times but most recently in 2010, to Brady once more.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: If Isabella had lived – what would she bring to the DOOL canvas today?

A whole lot of trouble for one because she’s dead and has been for almost 30 years but just say Dr. Rolf found a way to return her to the land of the living. Instead of Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso), someone who honestly seems to be barely a blip on John’s radar screen (sorry your Highness but let’s face it, he’s just not that into you) then if you really want to give John and Marlena a run for their money, the thing to do would be to bring back Isabella. That would be the only woman, besides our beloved Doc, who could hold John Black’s heart.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: What of Staci Greason?

Staci Greason is alive and well and doing wonderfully, it sounds like. She lives her life out of the spotlight these days and is a writer. She says she has fond memories of her time on the DOOL set, and that working with Drake Hogestyn was one of the best things that a young actress could have hoped for, but that ultimately she knew acting wasn’t what she was meant to do in life. She found the process to be lonely and boring, even so, being a writer took time to getting used to as well, she said she slowly had to make friends with solitude, she wasn’t used to it. Even though I am a writer myself, I could see where coming from a highly social profession like acting, it would take some getting used to. However, she seems to have managed quite well. We here at DSD wish her the best of luck on all her endeavors. Stay tuned!!!
