TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that Olivia Plath recently came back from her social media absence and was open to questions on her insta story. One of them asked her when will she and Ethan have kids and this is what she had to say.

“We are babies ourselves and are in no rush whatsoever. There are lots we want to experience and learn first.” There is absolutely no harm in that. From what we know about both Olivia and Ethan Plath, they are both from Quiverfull, ultra-conservative Christian families. Unlike the rest of us, they did not get to experience a lot of the things that the rest of us did growing up without it being forbidden or expressly against some kind of rules. I mean, Ethan’s only recently starting drinking coke and other “adult” beverages. It’s perfectly understandable that they would want to settle into being actual adults first and just have fun living their lives before diving headlong into parenthood. As for being ‘quiverfull’ Olivia went onto say this:

TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Olivia and Ethan not Quiverfull?

“I’m also a big advocate of not having more kids than you can properly raise and manage, which not only includes financial needs but emotional and psychological needs as well.” I think any dreams that Mama Kim Plath had of them buying a farm and raising 12 Grandchildren aren’t going to come true anytime soon. In fact, when it comes to their uber-conservative upbringing, it looks like Ethan and Olivia may be breaking away from the movement bit by bit. On her Instagram, she was asked by one follower about actually breaking away and she said this of the uber-conservative way that they were brought up,

“Many were not allowed or taught how to create boundaries as children, and now as a young adult trying to figure everything out at once, we can act frenzied and push back at the smallest amount of structure/authority.” There had been some earlier complaints about Olivia going ‘too far’ in her actions in ‘Welcome to Plathville’, and that she had pushed back too much against the Plath parents, but unless you’ve fought another person’s battle you don’t really know the giant they are up against. Obviously, Olivia felt she was up against a big one, and for the most part I would say that she was right.

As for religion itself, Olivia had this to say, and it made perfect sense to me: “Growing up in a conservative, legalistic church left a bad taste of Christianity in my mouth. As an adult, I’ve wrestled hard with what I believe and what religion I want in my life and here’s what I decided — I don’t want religion. I want nothing to do with religion. I want a relationship. I identify as Christian and I love Jesus. Jesus without all the crap and rules and hate and judgment.”

I think we can all say Amen. She says that she loves people from all walks of life and thinks that Christianity gets a bad rap because of what certain people bring to it, not because it’s an inherently bad or broken religion on its own. I could listen to her talk all day about this stuff, in fact! Some people have wondered if Olivia is going to write a book, but Olivia had some things to say about that too:

“Honestly, I have a bad connotation with young women writing books… it seems like all the young women I knew growing up became authors and started selling books on every “God-honoring” topic possible. And I vowed I would never be one of those girls!!” of course she doesn’t name any names, she’s classy like that but one has to wonder which authors that Olivia knew growing up and just how that colored her opinion of those types of books! And there’s also the fact of the matter than not everyone has a book inside of them. However, she did go on to say that, “Maybe when I’m old and [wise] I will actually have lived enough life to have the place and platform to pass on wisdom.” so perhaps if we wait long enough there would be a book in Olivia someday, but definitely not right now.

Let’s all give some respect for Olivia Plath living her own fabulous truth in these words on Instagram, and pray that she’s on the next season of Plathville. Stay tuned!!!
