McMillions is a new six-part documentary series being released on HBO. It is produced by Unrealistic Ideas, the non-scripted production company launched by Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Archie Gips. For decades, the McDonald’s Monopoly game was being rigged and ran by a mobster who would take a cut of the winnings. Even when this eventually got to the ranks of the FBI, they thought it was a joke. Fast food crime wasn’t necessarily high on their list of priorities. Little did we know how deep it actually ran! Coming next month, this documentary will take you through the entire process of how this was accomplished, and the lives it affected.
HBO’s ‘McMillions’ – The Dark Secret Behind McDonald’s Monopoly Game
According to a summary from HBO, McMillions, “the documentary series chronicles the stranger-than-fiction story of an ex-cop turned security auditor who rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly game promotion for a decade, stealing millions of dollars and building a vast network of co-conspirators across the U.S. The series draws on exclusive firsthand accounts and archival footage, featuring: the FBI agents who brought down the gaming scam; McDonald’s corporate executives, who were themselves defrauded; the lawyers who tried the case; and the culprits and prizewinners who profited from the complicated scheme, as well as the individuals who were often unwittingly duped into being a part of the ruse.”

Uncle Jerry – And The People Affected
Once the FBI began taking this seriously, everything from interviews to wire-tapping began happening. According to the FBI, the name Uncle Jerry began making its way around the calls. As it turns out, Uncle Jerry was a gangster! The winning tickets would find the way to him, and he would turn around and sell those. Originally, there were eight people the FBI considered for Uncle Jerry, the list steadily grew until it was over fifty!
This series will not only tell the story of Uncle Jerry and his McDonald’s monopoly fraud but of the people affected by it. As it turns out, money is not everything. A lesson these people had to learn the hard way. According to the series, many of these people were good, honest folks. They looked at this as an opportunity to settle debts, get their families to a better life and just get ahead. Things can take a drastic turn all at once though. You will be able to hear first hand from these people as they are interviewed in this new series. You can watch it on February 3, only on HBO.
