‘Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) Spoilers find that as we all know, Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden) just donated her healthy kidney to Katie Logan (Heather Tom), of course in order to donate you have to go through rigorous screening to figure out whether your own body is fit to be a donor and Flo obviously passed. However statistically there is a 3 in 10,000 mortality rate for donors and while its pretty rare, the fact of the matter is, it does happen. So let’s take a look at the risks that Flo, the donor, has.
‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Flo’s Ultimate Sacrifice, Dying From Kidney Failure After Magnanimous Katie Donation Could Prove Fatal!
The first thing they recommend for anyone who has donated a kidney is to avoid contact sports like football and other activities that could actively injure their remaining kidney. Now as far as we know, Flo doesn’t have any unrequited dreams of joining the NFL so she’s at least safe from football. However, she is not safe from other types of injuries such as car accidents or people who actively hate her.

Say, if Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) flew into a jealous rage, or if something re-ignited the animosity that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) held against her. Out of the two, I would most readily peg Thomas for the one most likely to hurt Flo. Sally has proven time and time again that she has better things to do than contemplate revenge against some high school rival, but love has been known to do strange things to people.
‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: What of Flo’s own health?
Virtually nothing is known about Flo’s own health aside that she was healthy enough to be considered a good candidate to be a living donor. There are still things that she could develop that would possibly affect her health. For instance, people who only have one kidney are more likely to develop hypertension and proteinuria, meaning proteins in the urine. Proteins in the urine can be a result of kidney disease itself, but it can also be a result of a far more common disease these days – type 2 diabetes.

Storm Logan (William deVry) seemed to be healthy as a horse. When he died he had his heart donated to his sister Katie, but what of Shauna’s family history? We know nothing of her family history at all and if her side of the family is prone to kidney disease or type 2 diabetes or hypertension. Flo could be fine right now, but all of these diseases are relatively slow to develop. Meaning what isn’t present now could very well crop up in the future.

If Flo is to die quickly, one would assume that it would be either by someone intentionally injuring the remaining kidney that she has left or she would be in a tragic accident that involved her other kidney getting injured. Out of all these possibilities right now the most obvious one would be murder. But right now the most obvious suspect isn’t angry at Flo, Thomas has bigger fish to fry.
Sally hasn’t proven herself to have murderous tendencies, in fact her revenge seems to be simply living well. Out of everyone else I’d peg Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) as the next in line, given her extreme dislike for Flo and the fact that people who cross her tend to wind up going off the edge of cliffs.
‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Slow and steady wins the race
However, if anything is actually going to kill Flo, barring tragic accidents and outright murder I would say it would be a slow developing condition. Say, if she and Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) do end up together it would be after a few good years, Flo would develop a tragic case of kidney disease or type 2 diabetes and Wyatt would have to watch as the woman he loved slowly slipped away.
‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Not so happily ever after?
In a doubly tragic turn of events, Flo had earlier told Wyatt that she wanted to have a baby. What if she did manage to get pregnant (a feat in itself considering she’s a donor) and then developed gestational diabetes? It would almost be like Steel Magnolias all over again. The baby might survive but there may not be any guarantee of Flo’s survival. Granted this is just speculation, looks like Flo is here to stay, to follow progress on her actual health – stay tuned!!!
