'Bold and the Beautiful' Spoilers: Why Did Ron Moss Really Leave B&B - Iconic Ridge Forrester's Exit Revisited!

‘Bold and the Beautiful’ spoilers find that we are not well acquainted with all of the comings and goings of the cast and characters. However, there was one departure that even I, as a non-viewer, knew about, and that was the departure and subsequent recast of Ronn Moss as Ridge Forrester.

‘Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Why Did Ronn Moss Really Leave B&B – Iconic Ridge Forrester’s Exit Revisited!

The shocker came in 2012, when after 25 years playing the iconic character, Moss decided to depart the role. He wanted to focus on other things, like his music career for one thing. Apparently his band is a pretty big deal in Austrailia! Who knew, right? Apparently Austrailia knew all this time and we’re just over here sleeping on him.

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’  wasn’t the only production he’s ever been in. In fact, to start out he was in the itallian film otherwise known as “Hearts and Armor” in 1983. In 1987 he was offered the role of Ridge Forrester. That same year, he played Rowdy Abilene in the Andy Sidaris classic “Hard Ticket to Hawaii” which won him a lot of critical acclaim in the theater world. He was even in the Disney Film “Bolt” as the voice of Dr. Forrester! (I don’t know about the rest of you, but that gave me a giggle.) B&B wasn’t his only foray into soaps, most recently he can be seen on the web series “The Bay” as the character John Blackwell and in 2018 he was in The Agency.

The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Will Ron Moss Ever Return to the Bold and the Beautiful As Ridge Forrester?

Moss was quoted in a 2012 interivew as saying that while he wanted to pursue other projects, he had asked producer Brad Bell specifically not to recast the role of Ridge Forrester. However, I guess storyline dictated and Bell did exactly that. There was no real elaboration on what, if anything, their actual agreement was but needless to say, after dedicating 25 years of his life to the soap, Moss viewed Bell’s decision as the ultimate form of disrespect. He said after the recast he knew that there was “no going back”. However it seems he eventually got over his beef and says that he “doesn’t have much connection to that now”, so I guess he’s moved on. A healthy way of doing things.

So, will there be a comeback of the original Ridge? I highly doubt it. I think everyone involved has moved on to a happier, healthier place in their life and while there may not be any animosity, there’s no interest in revisiting the past anytime soon. As for me, personally, I like what Thorsten Kaye brings to the role of Ridge Forrester, granted, I have no real comparison of the two, but I think Ridge is in good hands for now. All’s well that ends well.
