General Hospital star Coby Ryan McLaughlin is loving every minute that he gets to enjoy on the set of Port Charles. The actor, who recently joined the case as Shiloh, recently opened up to Soap Opera Digest about his character. He also talked about his co-star Kelly Monaco and how he even clinched the role in the first place.
General Hospital Star Coby Ryan McLaughlin Opens Up About Shiloh And Working With Kelly Monaco
This is Coby’s second daytime television show as he previously worked on The Young and the Restless. He played a character by the name of Andrew Lynford. And while he definitely enjoyed working on the show, he didn’t expect to be called back to the daytime television world so soon.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Coby admits that he was pretty surprised when his agent said there was a new role available on General Hospital and that it would be perfect for him. Coby says that when he read the description for Shiloh, he was shocked. The handsome actor told the publication, “So I went in and read for Tesch (Casting Director Mark Teschner). I’ve known him for years because my old acting coach (John Homa) was the coach on General Hospital, so I felt really comfortable with him. When I read for Frank (Valentini, executive producer) and the rest of the producers, I made some choices that I thought would make people in the room uncomfortable. I thought, ‘It’s a creepy dude, I might as well!’ There’s no reason to play it safe with somebody like this. You have to channel your inner freak.”
As far as his experience working with Kelly Monaco (who plays Sam), Shiloh says that it’s been a great so far. One of the reasons why they get along so well is because of their love for Philadelphia! Coby explains, “She’s rad. She’s wonderful. I mean, she’s a Philly chick. I went to school at Penn State. I’ve spent a lot of time on the East Coast and so she and I really bonded over that. We have a great time. She’s super-cool and really chill.”
With that being said, fans can’t wait to see what’s next for Shiloh and Sam. Seeing how Jason is already hot on his heels, it will only be matter of time before Shiloh and his Dawn of Day cult go down. Fans will find out soon!
