‘General Hospital’ spoilers have some important news to impart about one of the most beloved cast member of the hit ABC show. Kin Shriner recently celebrated his 65th birthday and before we take a walk down memory lane, we wanted to share some of the actor’s less known accomplishments.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Kin Shriner
1- Kin Shriner, who portrays Scotty Baldwin on the hit ABC soap ‘General Hospital’ was a door to door salesman for Fuller Brush one upon a time. Yep, that was indeed before he started his acting career, meaning early to late 70ies.

2- Kin Shriner has played the role of Scotty Baldwin on ‘General Hospital’ for 5 decades, a fact that lands him in a pretty unique situation. First cast into the role in 1977, he did leave the show on multiple occasions to benefit from other opportunities, but has managed to remain a mainstay in Port Charles after all these years. He still, to this day, maintains a regular cast role on the hit ABC soap. This lends him to be one of the very few actors who has played the same role for 5 decades on the same show. Can you believe that it’s been 5 decades since Scotty Baldwin made his debut? Time sure flies!

3- In 1997, ABC created a General Hospital spinoff show called ‘Port Charles’ that starred Kin Shriner as one of the cast members from the big sister show. ABC was initially against the idea of a ‘GH’ spinoff as presented by then head writer Claire Labine, but eventually green lighted the idea when executive producer Wendy Riche presented the concept of Port Charles to ABC. Ratings and fan reception were initially lukewarm but Port Charles aired until 2003, and Kin Shriner found himself in a regular role on the spinoff. The show was eventually canceled in 2003 and most of the characters, including Shriner (Scotty Baldwin) made their way back to General Hospital.

4- Kin Shriner played on both The ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ and The ‘Young and the Restless’. He took on the role of Dr. Brian Carey on the former in 1995, whereas he payed Harrison Bartlett on the latter in 2004 and Jeffrey Bardwell in 2011. After playing musical chairs, a fact not so uncommon in the soap opera world, so many times, Shriner returned to General Hospital in 2013 and hasn’t left since.
5- He has a twin brother, Wil Shriner, and they both turned 65 years old on December 6, 2018. We wish him a belated happy birthday and can’t wait to see what ABC has in store for Scotty Baldwin in the near future.
