NBC has a new series coming soon titled ‘Young Rock‘. You can probably already figure this out, but it’s going to center around the childhood of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and is listed as a comedy. I’m getting a lot of ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ vibes from this announcement, and while I’m a fan of The Rock, I’m not sure this is going to be a hit.
Lately, The Rock has been everywhere. Literally, everywhere. He’s the owner of the XFL, he’s a mega-million movie star, still has connections with the WWE, and is the biggest Instagrammer in the world. That said, maybe it’s just me, and you’re looking for more of The Rock in your life.
Johnson shared several posts on Instagram detailing the actors who would play the various ages of his younger self and other important people in his life, such as his father Rocky “Soulman” Johnson. Take a look at the casting for his 15-year old self below.

NBC ‘Young Rock’ Beginning Production! A Series Based On Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Childhood
This could be the next big thing. As I said, it could just be me. Chris Rock’s series was a huge hit and resonated with everyone. With as many fans as ‘The Rock’ has, this could explode on NBC. To close out his announcement, Johnson simply says,
“This passion project is special and I’m boundless grateful to EVERYONE who is lending their talents, passion, love and mana to bring it to life.
Can’t wait for you guys to watch this one!”
