WWE News it was a dark day for the world of wrestling on Wednesday evening, as the WWE revealed the news that they have parted ways with many of the most beloved stars on the roster. The news was revealed on all social media platforms, with Kurt Angle, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and Rusev among those released by the company.
Within minutes of the announcement, fans began to realise the gravity of the situation as they wished the wrestlers all the best. Many of the biggest stars in the company also posted heartfelt messages, with Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch all sharing their thoughts with the WWE Universe.
WWE News: Superstars Share Heartfelt Messages
There were a number of superstars that were quick to support their friends, with Seth Rollins also releasing an extended video on Instagram sharing his thoughts. He admitted that it was a dark day for professional wrestling, but drew criticism from some sections of the fan base. He admitted in a later post that it has been an ‘emotional day’ for all involved in wrestling, but wanted to work hard to ‘unify and rally behind an industry’ he loves.
One video that also got a lot of love was one posted by Drake Maverick. The wrestler from the United Kingdom posted a heartfelt message where he thanked everyone for their support. Alexa Bliss admitted that she was touched by the video, while Kurt Angle also posted his support for the Birmingham-born wrestler.
WWE News: Huge List Of Names Released
In total, there were nearly 40 releases from the WWE payroll, with those ranging from on-screen talent to those that worked behind the curtain. Legends such as Fit Finlay and Kurt Angle were among them, as were referees that have played a pivotal role in the company over the past 20 years.
The departure of Zack Ryder was one that particularly caught the attention of AEW’s Cody Rhodes, as he admitted that he was sorry for his friend and posted an emotional message on Twitter. Ryder was applauded by thousands on social media for his 15-year career with the WWE, with many referencing his 2016 WrestleMania win for the Intercontinental title as a personal favourite memory of theirs.
