Charlotte Flair has been away from the WWE for three months now after losing her NXT Women’s Championship at the NXT:TakeOver: In Your House event. Flair was beaten by Io Shirai in that triple threat match, which also included Rhea Ripley.
That defeat meant that her NXT title reign was the second shortest in the history of the championship. However, Flair has been teasing her return to the WWE on social media over the last couple of days, which means that we could be closing in on seeing her back in a WWE ring again. But, what will her plan be when she arrives back on weekly television?
WWE News: Back To Raw
Of the two main shows that the WWE broadcast, it would seem that her most likely destination would be Raw. It would make little sense for Flair to end up on SmackDown since the title picture looks to be focused on the ongoing rivalry between Sasha Banks and Bayley for the next couple of months.
That means a return to Raw looks the most likely, and it could mean a potential re-match against Asuka. There will be huge excitement in seeing the two superstars go head to head once again. However, it’s unlikely that fans will be too desperate to see another Flair title run.
She is already the most decorated woman in WWE history, and has held the Raw title on four occasions and the SmackDown title on five occasions. Instead, Flair could benefit from a feud away from the title picture for a couple of months.
WWE News: Return To NXT
There was shock amongst the WWE Universe when Flair defeated Ripley at WrestleMania earlier in the year, as very few expected to see Flair appearing on a regular basis on NXT. Fans had also hoped that Ripley could have got the rub off beating the most successful woman in WWE history.
However, it wasn’t to be. There is still an awful lot of unfinished business in NXT that Flair could opt to address. It would certainly elevate the division on the yellow brand, and Flair being involved in matches for the NXT Women’s Championship certainly wouldn’t hurt the stars that she is sharing the ring with.
The WWE Universe may prefer to see Flair return to NXT to sort out unfinished business there first before returning to the main roster.
