Shane Warne was a big name Down Under, well-known for two specific reasons; being one of the best bowlers the sport of cricket has ever seen, and being quite the ladies man.
The 52 Australian bowler turned sports commentator was found by friends, unresponsive in a villa in Thailand. The three friends staying with the sportsman tried to revive Warne before an ambulance on Koh Samui Island was able to take him to hospital.
Thai medical staff continued working on Warne but could not revive him. While Warne’s body is currently undergoing an autopsy and police have said they will be questioning his travel companions, no foul play is suspected and it is very likely a fatal heart attack the leg spinner died from.

Throughout his career, where Warne brought the leg-spinner style of bowling back to the Aussie team, Warne took a total of 708 Test wickets. This record has only been surpassed by fellow spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who played for and now coaches the Sri Lankan national team.
Aside from his excellence in cricket, the larger than life Aussie rogue often found himself the subject of tabloid fodder, with cheating scandals, inappropriate text discoveries and a three year engagement to British model and actress, Liz Hurley all played out in public.
Hurley and Warne never married.
Warne’s sudden and shocking death came only hours after another Australian cricketing legend, batsman Rob Marsh passed–also from a heart attack.
In fact Warne’s eerie last post to social media was a tribute to 74 year old Marsh.
He wrote, “Sad to hear the news that Rod Marsh has passed. He was a legend of our great game & an inspiration to so many young boys & girls. Rod cared deeply about cricket & gave so much-especially to Australia & England players. Sending lots & lots of love to Ros & the family. RIP mate.”
Tributes have since poured in for both Marsh and Warne, with even Sarah Ferguson- Duchess of York, posting about her sadness at the loss of the two Aussie legends.
“I am so sad to hear about Shane Warne and Rod Marsh, two legends of cricket and sport, who have been taken from us too soon,” she wrote. “My thoughts and prayers are with both their families. Rest In Peace.”
