Leaving the UK to move to California in January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties to try their hand at commercial ventures.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Use of Their Titles For Commerical Gain
The couple made a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, and the streaming platform ran their docuseries, “Harry and Meghan.” Meghan also made a deal with Spotify to produce her podcast, Archetypes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had an interview with Oprah in March 2021. A pregnant Meghan accused the royal family of racism. There had been “conversations” and “concerns” about what Archie would look like when he was born and how dark his skin would be.
In January 2023, Harry wrote his tell-all book, “Spare,” and trashed his family and, in great detail, discussed private issues concerning his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William.
He even vilified Charles’s beloved wife, Camilla. Before Queen Elizabeth passed, she made it clear to Harry and Meghan that she wouldn’t allow them to use the royal family for commercial gain.
Of course, Harry played it off like the Queen’s hand was forced, but we all know she was old school. She never believed that Harry should cash in on his royal titles, as there are rules to be followed.
After the Queen died and Charles became King, he permitted his son to capitalize on the royal family, not because he approved, but probably with the thought that he didn’t want to ignite even more family discord than Harry had already caused.
Charles Should Remove Harry and Meghan’s Titles
Now that Harry has renounced his ties with Britain and declared the US his home, Charles should remove the Duke’s titles.
After all, Harry is a Counsellor of State. He’s fifth in line to the throne, for Pete’s sake. Prince Andrew, another royal outcast, is also in the line of succession and should not be near the throne.
If anything happens to King Charles, Harry could stand in for his father, which is unimaginable. The King should take swift action and remove Harry as a Counsellor of State.
It is especially prudent because of Charles’s cancer treatment. He may need a couple of trusted royals to fill his shoes, and one of them shouldn’t be Harry.
Technically, Harry is a US resident but not yet a citizen. He wants to have his cake and eat it, too. He wants to keep his royal titles, but he wants to be able to consider the US as his home.
Hary has no home in the UK, where the King removed him and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage. It makes sense that he would want to plant roots where he was welcome.
While Harry and Meghan’s popularity is undoubtedly on a steady decline, they have more favor in the US, where they can commercialize their Duke and Duchess titles.
Harry gets to be royalty as he enjoys his cushy life in sunny Montecito. The Sussexes can capitalize on the royal family all they want with their titles.
If Charles removed their titles, they would fail. Harry should make it official and become a US citizen for the sake of the monarchy.
