‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that in an exclusive with Us Weekly, Olivia and Ethan Plath finally elaborated on just what on earth initially caused the feud between them and Ethan’s parents, and honestly – once you hear their side of the story, you really can’t blame the twosome for being angry, and for Olivia’s revelation in season 2, that she wanted a new ring.
Okay, so the scoop is that the night that Ethan and Olivia got engaged, Kim instantly started treating this wedding as if it were her wedding, and the kicker of it all? Once Kim saw the ring that Olivia had said grabbed her hand and said, “I want to switch rings with you.”
‘Welcome to Plathville’: What Started The Feud – And What Could Have Deepened It
Um, ew! No wonder Olivia wants something that doesn’t have Kim’s seal of approval on it. She also said that she didn’t even get to tell her own mother that she was engaged, that rather Kim announced it online and she had to find it out that way! Wow, bad taste, Kim!
Everything about Ethan and Olivia’s wedding was planned by Kim, and even after they were married and after they went on their honeymoon, Kim tried to dictate their lives from there, telling them what they should do. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Olivia, she said that she had just gotten out from under an equally oppressive regime in her own parent’s house and didn’t want someone telling her what to do now that she was a married woman.
‘Welcome to Plathville’: And Who Can Blame Her?
Now we come to the speculation about what could have possibly deepened this feud, keep in mind that the following are just theories, not proof, but we know enough about Kim and Barry’s belief systems to think that the following might have played a factor in the feud between the families.
Last year, Olivia revealed in an Instagram post that she voted for Joe Biden, while the Plaths have never outright stated any kind of political affiliation, people that run in the same circles as the Plaths don’t often vote blue. So it can be assumed that neither Kim nor Barry if they knew about this, was very happy with that.
Olivia’s decision to vote blue might have also had something to do with her recent miscarriage, considering some states will criminalize women who have had miscarriages, even go so far as to throw them in jail if they find the miscarriage ‘suspicious’, to be fair I don’t think that Georgia is one of these states but it seems that Texas is quickly becoming one, which isn’t fair to a woman who is already grieving a child. Olivia went so far as to say that she was relieved by the miscarriage because she wasn’t ready for a baby quite yet – a sentiment that was echoed by Ethan.
Kim and Barry probably did not know about the miscarriage, however, if they did there can only be one source for that and that would be Moriah. I don’t think Moriah would actually tell her parents, but if she did accidentally let something slip, then that could have possibly deepened whatever feud they were having.
Also, it just could have been that Olivia was trying to protect herself from Kim’s judgment when it came to her body, which no one can blame her for. Kim says she is a ‘naturopath’, someone who believes in holistic medicine, so no doubt she would have had some opinions about what caused Olivia to miscarry… and Olivia has every right to reject those opinions. The above was just speculation, obviously, the real reasons are much deeper and much more hurtful, they’ll probably come to light soon. Stay tuned!!!
