‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers tells there was one storyline that was brought up over season 2 of Welcome to Plathville that we completely forgot, and that was Lydia Plath’s trip abroad. She made such a big deal about it in the beginning, like she wanted to go out into the mission field and work with russian orphans.
It was hinted at in the very beginning of the season and we even saw one scene where Kim Plath had talked to one of the mission field leaders at their church or religious group or wherever and it looked like Lydia would be headed off to somewhere in Eastern Europe pretty soon.
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: However, I’m pretty sure that COVID prevented that.
However, it didn’t really prevented that, considering that no one was allowing American flights into Europe for awhile, so that probably grounded poor Lydia’s desire to work in the mission field. It seemed like that wasn’t the only storyline of Lydia’s that was dropped this season.
There was also footage of Lydia at a wedding that was hinted at in some previous episodes of Plathville, but we never got to see that either. Literally the only thing we ever saw was her and Kim in the reception hall and Lydia commenting that all the ‘wedding stuff looked fun” and Kim sharply reprimanding her with “You’re too young to be looking at wedding stuff.”
Okay, yeah, at 16 she definitely is, but still. It seems that after Lydia gave up on her mystery man that a lot of her storyline was just dropped and forgotten about, except for her desire to have Ethan back in the family, which, okay that’s a perfectly valid desire and storyline but you have to wonder what might have been if COVID hadn’t happened, or if she hadn’t decided not to pursue her mystery man any further.
(Granted, she did kind of have to give up that dream, considering he had a girlfriend and Lydia is not that girl.) If there is a season 3, we all kind of wonder what she’ll be doing besides being the literal perfect child for Kim and Barry Plath, sadly, we won’t know until there is a season 3, or perhaps if Kim ever lets her get social media.
(Which I doubt.) We also kind of wonder if at any point in time if she’ll break that perfect facade she has going on, again, something that I highly doubt, but we’ll see. Whatever she decides, we wish her the best of luck. Stay tuned!!!
