‘Welcome to Plathville’ spoilers tells taht the only time I think I’ve ever seen Ethan Plath get close to getting angry was when he talked about how his Mom and Dad would not let him see his younger siblings. He said that it felt like an insult, and honestly, I can’t say I blame him.
It would be one thing if he were a neighbor’s son, or even a distant cousin, but he grew up in the same household as his siblings and now, just because he displays a slightly more relaxed lifestyle than the one that they brought him up in, they aren’t letting him see his siblings.
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: I agree with Ethan, it really isn’t fair.
But yet, they don’t mind hanging out with the Gilberts, people who have a more relaxed set of views than they do and exposing the younger kids to them as opposed to their own brother? That doesn’t really seem to add up and it seems like a really big double-standard on Kim and Barry’s part.
They raised Ethan, so they should trust him, they didn’t raise Olivia, but they should trust Ethan’s judgement enough to know that whomever he picked to spend the rest of his life with would never knowingly harm any one of his siblings. Especially the younger kids!
We all kind of know the reasons why Kim and Barry are like the way they are, we won’t rehash that right now, but the fact that they don’t seem to trust their own son, a human being that they raised, makes absolutely no sense.
Seriously though, they did not grow up like this, we all know what Kim’s damage was, she grew up in a broken home with an alcoholic Mom and a disappeared Dad, until her Stepdad came into the picture. But what was Barry’s? His seemed to be quite idyllic. Was it just the college drinking he witnessed or was there something else he didn’t say in his profile?
Either way, let’s hope that exposure to the Gilbers will let them see just how insane they’re being when it comes to their own offspring, and maybe one day, they can give Ethan and Olivia another chance at being near their siblings. Stay tuned!!!
