Moriah Plath has definitely branched out when it comes to her taste in, well, just about everything. On the show, Welcome to Plathville, we’ve been seeing her embrace pole-dancing as well as ballroom dancing, and now she has branched out into showing off her musical talent.

Moriah used to be really shy about singing, even on social media, and she didn’t really show off unless it was to family members or basically recording things by herself. Now, she’s decided to branch out and cover Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved”, and it’s gotten some mixed reactions online.

Welcome to Plathville: Moriah Plath covers Lewis Capaldi

A lot of people are saying that Moriah, should stick with dancing and that she’s not really a singer. But what these people are forgetting is that Moriah has never been formally trained, she has Kim’s training, which, might work in a family band setting or if you’re just going around to different churches singing.

We’ll admit that her voice has that “beauty pageant” quality to it, without as much projection behind it, but for the type of music she’s trying to sing now – that’s okay. The thing is, we forget that a lot of artists today have a lot of production quality behind their sounds, and right now Moriah is just essentially playing around… but she wants to get better!

it’s amazing how people are so quick to discount a person whom they would normally consider talented if it weren’t for the fact that they were on a TV show already. One wonders, if Moriah hadn’t already been TV famous, if she had just posted the clip of herself singing, would it have went viral and would she have possibly gone on to be on The Voice or American Idol in a different reality?

Oh wait, those are still reality TV shows, aren’t they? We should give Moriah a little grace for some growth – she’s young and right now she can afford to play around with what she wants to do in life. If we were afforded the same chance, bunches of us would probably take it and do the same things that Moriah is doing, but perhaps with a different flavor. Moriah isn’t bad… just give her time!
