United States Rep. Yvette Herrel, a Republican-New Mexico, has announced she’s planning to introduce a bill that would grant temporary asylum to the Canadian truckers that took part in the Freedom Convoy.

For the last month, the truckers and many others have been protesting Canada’s Covid vaccine mandate for them, and then demanded that Justin Trudeau resign.

On February 19, Herrell posted a series of tweets about her intent to introduce the bill to congress, stating the following:

“Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed crackdown against peaceful protesters in Canada is not the action of a Western Democracy, but that of an authoritarian regime like Venezuela

“Just as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world.

“I am introducing legislation that would temporarily grant asylum to innocent Canadian protesters who are being persecuted by their own government. We cannot be silent as our neighbors to the north are treated so badly.”

    Tyrannical Response

Since the beginning of the protest, the Canadian media has sided 100% with their Prime Minister and Trudeau smeared the truckers and protestors as racists, a fringe minority, causing extensive damage, and hurting the local economy despite the government reportedly shutting down the businesses against the truckers’ wished.

They took away the truckers’ gas and other supplies to freeze them out, and even threatened to take away their pets permanently if they were arrested and had snipers on the rooftops for this peaceful protest.

Last week, Trudeau enacted the Emergency Act and has frozen banks accounts of the truckers and those that had donated to them. Police moved in and slowly pressured them and towed away vehicles.

After police on horses tramped an elderly lady and sent her to the hospital, they began gassing the protestors (caught in live streams) while publicly claiming they were the ones being gassed, and then the police were armed with batons and guns while covering their names and badges on their uniforms.

All of this could have been prevented had Trudeau talked with them and come to an understanding, but instead he “tested positive” for Covid and hid out.

While all of this was happening in Ottawa, the country’s capital, Jason Kenney, the Premier of Alberta, announced on Saturday that he was suing the Canadian government and Trudeau for invoking the Emergency Act, labeling it as “unjustifiable in the circumstances.

He elaborated further when he spoke to the Edmonton Sun, explaining that “the Emergencies Act was designed to come into effect at the failure of the state … however, there is no insurrection or coup.”

Trudeau has been taking a lot of heat from both political sides in Canada without Parliament voting on his Emergency Act use yet, but it’s still expected to pass.
