The UFC action continues this weekend, as UFC Fight Night takes place at the UFC APEX. The action will come hot off the heels of Alistair Overeem’s KO win over Augusto Sakai last weekend. However, this weekend, the attention will be on the women fighters that will be stepping into the octagon to make a name for themselves.
The night will be headlined by the Strawweight contest between Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill, while there is also an intriguing matchup between Andrea Lee and Roxanne Modafferi earlier in the card. But, which women will be walking away from UFC Fight Night with an improved record?
UFC News: Michelle Waterson vs Angela Hill
The main event of the night will see 34-year-old Waterson take on 35-year-old Hill. Waterson has the slightly better record heading into the fight as she has won 17 times and lost just eight. Hill has lost the same number as her opponent this weekend, but has won just the 12 times. Hill has the vital reach advantage over the two women, as they both are the same height and weight.
Hill returned to the UFC in 2017, and since then has won on six occasions. Her recent succession of victories inside the octagon was brought to an end in May this year as she was beaten via split decision by Claudia Gadelha. Meanwhile, Waterson will be looking to end a two-fight losing sequence, as he has been beaten by Carla Esparza and Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the past year. These two defeats ended a sequence of three wins.
UFC News: Roxanne Modafferi vs Andrea Lee
The other women’s bout on the card will see Andrea Lee look to take a huge scalp in the flyweight division as she takes on Roxanne Modafferi. Lee has been in excellent form throughout her professional career, she has won eleven times and has lost on just four occasions. In comparison, Modafferi has won 24 of her bouts and has lost on 18 occasions.
There will be a layer of pressure on Lee to get back to winning ways in this fight, as she has lost her previous two. The most recent of those come against Lauren Murphy, while her last win came back in June last year against Montana De La Rosa. This could be a huge night in her career, and there will be a feeling that she will be able to get the job done.
