UFC fans have been spoilt for choice when it comes to fight action over the past couple of months, as the big bouts just keep on coming. It was revealed this week that the Middleweight Championship will be on the line at UFC 253 next month as Israel Adesanya will defend his title against Paulo Costa.

The huge event will take place on the 26th September, and there is already a stacked undercard of talent for MMA fans to look forward to. There is also a light heavyweight championship bout between Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz, and a women’s strawweight match-up between Randa Markos and Mackenzie Dern. However, all attention will be on the main event of the evening.

UFC News: Delayed Contest Between Stars

This isn’t the first time that this fight has been scheduled to take place, as they were supposed to be meeting for the title back at UFC 248. However, Costa was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury, which meant that Adesanya was forced to defend his title against Yoel Romero instead. Adesanya was excellent on that evening, as he won via unanimous decision.

That took Adesanya’s record to 19-0, which illustrates his reputation as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC. He has beaten a wide selection of the most acclaimed fighters in the UFC, which includes Robert Whittaker, Kevin Gastelum and Anderson Silva. He has won 14 of his 19 fights via knockout, with the most recent KO success coming against Whittaker at UFC 243 last year. However, this could be his biggest challenge to date.

UFC News: Costa Making Waves In The UFC

Costa is ranked as the second best middleweight in the UFC, and it is hard to argue against that after studying his record. Like Adesanya, he is also unbeaten, as he has won all 13 professional bouts that he has had. His performances in MMA have been stunning as he has won eleven of these fights via knockout. Only one of his victories have come via decision, with that coming in his last bout against Romero in August last year.

That decision victory ended a run of five straight fights in which he had won via KO, and he will be an opponent that Adesanya will certainly respect going into the octagon. This will be Costa’s sixth UFC bout, and he seems to be getting better every time he steps into the octagon. It could be one of the best fights of the year.
