‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers indicate that Ethan Plath admitted that until the night before he was getting married, Kim and Barry (AKA: Ma and Pa) Plath had not said one word to him about sex or the way the body worked.
He said that he did not know what a woman was until he was around the age of 20 and the Plaths encouraged this level of almost child-like innocence in their son. Then he admitted something that most people would have taken to their grave. Apparently, when he was 13 and at his home church, that’s when he, ahem, became a man, so to speak.
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: That’s right, Ethan Plath rubbed one out underneath the pew of their home church.
He did tell wife Olivia that he would be raising his own son differently. She said she would be interested to know how he was going to talk to his son when the time came. I think that is a talk we’d all be curious to know about.
At least he seems pretty open about talking to his kids about the birds and the bees when the time comes, unlike his parents who seem downright afraid to discuss anything to do with sexuality for fear that their kids will turn into raging nymphomaniacs. (Seriously, is that what they think? Inquiring minds want to know.)
You have to feel a little bad for Ethan because it’s not like the poor guy was sheltered but could secretly go online and find out things for himself, he didn’t even have the advent of public school where he could ask his friends or anything, he just had his parents and the farm.
He has previously said that even if someone had locked him in a box for 20 years, he could have figured out how the mechanics of sex worked, but, I think he’s just now starting to figure out the finer points of the act itself, hence why he’s so dirty-minded right now, he’s in love and married and has discovered the joy of being with a woman.
I’m not sure Olivia appreciates it but there it is. While Ethan still has some growing to do, I think we can all appreciate the fact that he recognizes where his own parents went wrong and how he can do things differently with his own kids. Phew! Stay tuned!!!
