TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: On TLC’s, ‘Welcome to Plathville’, we saw Georgia family, Kim and Barry Plath with their nine children on their farm. Kim and Barry have been raising the Plath children in a very conservative way. They don’t have televisions, cell phones, or any knowledge of pop culture or the world of social media. There have been many rumors floating around that the way they are portrayed on television may not be the way they really are. Ethan Plath, the oldest son, spoke out about his parents and said that things aren’t always what they seem to be on the show.
TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: It All Started on Instagram
Even though Welcome to Plathville is over for the season, Ethan is still getting a lot of nasty comments about the show. The night of the finale, he posted on his Instagram account and a fan said some pretty nasty things about his wife, Olivia. Olivia has been quite the conversation piece in the Plath family and it is obvious that Kim does not like her and vice versa. Ethan took to Instagram to set the story straight.
TLC ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Ethan Criticizes Parents
The fan wrote, “Ethan and his adult siblings appear to be doing very well so apparently his parents are doing something right. Kim actually appears to be quite reasonable- she allowed the 16-year-old to travel across the country to San Francisco, is open to her going to college, etc. She clearly said as adults she has no control over their decisions. In reality, how they raise their children is none of Olivia’s business”. Ethan read this and knew he had to speak up about what is really going on.
“The one and only reason why my parents let my sister Moriah go to San Francisco with my wife Olivia was because of the show. If it had not been for the show my parents never would have let her go. If you don’t believe me, go back and watch where Moriah asked for permission. Their faces say it all…but they didn’t want to look bad on TV.” These two have gotten so much criticism lately that they really can’t take much more.
Olivia is taking a break from social media because of all of the angry fans she has messaging her. She wrote, “I’ve received so much hate on all of my platforms since our show aired, and while I know that is just part of being in this industry. I don’t need to be seeing that negativity and toxicity every day. If this past year for you didn’t include getting married and moving 800 miles away, leaving your family behind, processing your childhood and re-discovering yourself, having your in-laws speak ill of you on national TV, and dealing with narcissistic behavior, emotional, psychological and spiritual abuse every day, then you can’t understand my story and don’t have a reason to tell me why I’m doing everything wrong.”
Ethan and Olivia still say that things are very different on and off the cameras. Let’s hope we get to see more of the Plath family with a second season.
