TLC Unpolished Spoiler: “All That Glitters”, Season 1, Episode 2 - Lexi & Bria At Salon Martone!

TLC Unpolished spoilers indicate that the episode with the cliffhanger that the episode 1 left off with: behind closed doors at her birthday party, and moments after a fairytale proposal, Bria discovers that Matthew has relapsed. Off to rehab he goes, with Bria worried and sad, her family feeling her pain, and Lexi not-so-silently saying “I told you so.”

Bria continues to see only the version of Matthew that exists without the cloud of substances. Her family acknowledges that his frequent relapses are a cause for concern and wish the situation were different. But they also understand that love—like addiction—is irrational, and their only choice is to either support Bria and keep her close, or disagree and ultimately push her way. As her mom sum it ups, “you always want to be there for your children, no matter how much you disagree with their choices.” I think a family counselor might have a different opinion, but I’m sure this merry go round will not end anytime soon.

As for business matters at the salon, Bria and Lexi are joining forces to help a client with music video prep. Although their personal lives are in turmoil, the sisters both state they have the ability to leave the drama at home in order to focus on their clients. That is, until, Matthew drops off his babies (from a past fling) off at the salon. Twins, because, of course. The toddlers run amok, causing Bria to leave their joint client consultation. Of course, Lexi is not pleased at this show of unprofessionalism and this only serves to add to the tension.

The ladies all take a dance class together in this episode. Once again, Grandma Foxy steals the show, but the girls both say that they’ve always been able to come together and support each other when it counts. At least, that used to work when they were kids. But from their commentary about each other, you really can tell that they seem to genuinely cheer for one another and recognize the strengths that each one brings to the table.

The episode ends with their music video client getting all dolled up, having her neon claws—I mean, nails—being glued in place by Lexi and her hair and make up done by Bria. As per expected, the client is over-the-moon happy with the result. If there’s one thing about these women, despite their personal differences, they do seem to run a tight professional ship. We also see a conversation between Bria and Matthew when she picks him up from an AA meeting. As per how these conversations go, Bria says anytime he choses to use, he is effectively not choosing her. And, that he can’t have both. Only time will tell if his words turn into actions. As Bria herself notes, “Addicts can never promise anything.”

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
