‘OutDaughtered’ wrapped its eighth season this week and, though TLC has not announced if the show will be renewed for a ninth, it looks like it would be an obvious choice. Fans simply cannot get enough of the Busby family.
This season was a little different than what we’ve seen in previous years. As the girls are getting older, the storylines are maturing and in the finale of season 8 we saw that 10 year old Blayke is battling some serious fears about the ocean.

But, in true Blayke spirit (and a LOT of encouragement from Mom and Dad), Blayke did join the family while kayaking and followed fearless quint Riley into the ocean to try snorkeling.
Of course, Danielle’s mysterious health woes also made the season a little heavier than usual as fans watched the Super Mom not just struggle with aches and pains but with slowing down from her usual go, go, go pace.
On the sweeter side, we did watch the youngest girls learn to ride bikes and were all delighted to see painfully shy Parker blossom as she discovered her love of ballet. Hazel’s eye strengthening after using an eyepatch also buoyed fans spirits but the MVPs when it came to bringing the fun were Danielle’s sister Kiki and her husband “Uncle Doofus” Dale.
Always popular with fans, Uncle Dale continued to bring the laughs, especially when he revealed he was an ordained minister. However, it was in the final episode of season 8, when Kiki revealed that she truly thought calamari was a type of cheese that killed not only viewers but the family, too.
Even Kiki’s own daughter tried to explain to her mother that octopus and squid were sea creatures, not cheese. Kiki remained skeptical, claiming that their mother, Mimi had told her it was cheese, until she was ushered to the seafood market to see the ‘origin of calamari’ herself.
We believe that story alone warrants a ninth season! Watch this space for more info as soon as we learn the fate of the Busbys and their tenure on TLC.
