Karen Derrico deserves a medal. I felt so bad for her when she was getting out of the hospital. I’m glad that she has a husband that is as supportive as Deon Derrico right now because I’ve witnessed some guys who just aren’t. But thankfully, he was. Poor Karen, her legs were so swollen after giving birth and she was contracting while she was being discharged.

Poor Deon, his face was one of sheer terror when she told him that, because I’m pretty sure for just a split second he thought that there was a baby that they missed in there. (For that matter, so did I, so no judgment there.)

It would seem that after pregnancy one’s uterus has to go back down to normal size after housing babies for all those nine months, so that means, contractions. Once she explained that, I cringed because contractions mean pain and I cannot imagine the amount of pain that one has to go through after carrying triplets. Even if they were premature, there’s a certain amount of pain involved. There’s also the fact that Karen had a c-section. Double ouch.

Deon was really good to her, he told the kids that before she got home and when the kids were jumping on him like a jungle gym that while he could take that kind of rough-housing, that there was no way they could do that to Mommy when she got home.

Thank God for that because I was a little afraid she was going to get mobbed when she walked through the door. (No judgment, I”ve been that child before, I think we all have.)

Again, I’m just going to express my utmost admiration for this woman, being a Mom to all 11 kids when she is so worn out herself that she can barely move.

Yes, you could argue that she had help from her husband and Mother-in-law, but it’s 11 children and they’re all 13 and under, the majority of them are at the age where everything is very mom-centric and they want Mom attention, even when  Mom may need some me time, which Karen later recounted to a friend that that is not happening. But maybe it will be soon. Stay tuned!!!
