TLC Counting On Spoilers finds that we have watched the Duggar children grow into adults and now they are all having families of their own. One of those children, Joy-Anna, got real with her fans about what it was like to grow up as a Duggar. We have some of the news that she shared during the holidays.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar set some very strict rules for their children while they were growing up. Being in such a strict, Christian religion, they knew that some things were just off-limits. Joy-Anna opened up about some of the things she may have done wrong when she was growing up. She admitted that when she would babysit, she would watch television shows that were not allowed at home.

Her post began, “Who else loves ‘I Love Lucy’?!” Jim Bob and Michelle never let the kids watch those types of shows so it seemed like a shock when she posted the picture. Then she commented to a fan that asked if she was allowed to watch that growing up. She said, “We didn’t have Cable Television in our home when we were growing up, but we did watch old TVC shows and movies on DVD or online”. The Duggar family did not welcome secular television in their home, but it does seem like they could watch shows from the past. We are not sure if Jim Bob and Michelle allowed their kids to watch shows like ‘I Love Lucy’, but it doesn’t seem like they are arguing on Joy-Anna’s post.

One of her cousins, Amy Duggar, also commented on the picture and how they used to watch these classic shows together. Amy said it was so much fun to watch the shows together. We think that Amy was raised less strict than Joy-Anna. She could be the one that exposed Joy-Anna to the shows. The Duggars not only had strict television rules, but they also had strict dating rules as well.

The children were allowed to have a courtship and that helped them to find a partner to marry. They were only allowed to court those that Jim Bob and Michelle thought were marriage material. In 2017, Joy-Anna completely ignored the courting rules and went on a trip with Austin Forsyth, who is her husband now. The Duggars have such strict rules for life. It seems that moving away from the family may have been a good idea for the older kids. Stay tuned to see what other family members end up breaking these rules.
