TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ spoilers indicate that Colt said he did not start talking to Vanessa until after Larissa’s second arrest, and that they “just connected” and they were both in bad marriages and he found someone he could really lean on.
The way he talks he and Vanessa were just friends on social media when his marriage to Larissa was breaking up and then after they broke up he expressed interest in dating her but according to him, she wasn’t interested at that time.

He didn’t really say why, whether it was because she was still married or just healing from a horrible marriage, but he said that in that time Larissa started dating Eric and he found Jess and then he said that Vanessa started dating someone else but that he got upset.
So, if Vanessa was the one he wanted to be with all this time, then why on earth even waste Jess’s time? That’s what mystifies me. It’d be one thing to just date Jess, but he told her that he wanted to get married to her and have kids with her. Why even bother with that?
That’s leading someone on majorly to think that you actually want a future with them. He knew from the get-go that he didn’t want a relationship with Jess, at least not a long-term one. He knew he would be dropping her like a hot potato the second Vanessa decided to come around and tell him she was free. So why even waste Jess’s time?
Clearly, Colt just wanted some instant gratification. He couldn’t stand that the object of his affection was turning him down so he went and got himself what he viewed as a “consolation prize” to bide his time until Vanessa would give him the time of day.
In Jess’s defense however, she is not a consolation prize and should not have ever been viewed as such, but that seems to be exactly what Colt saw her as. I’m glad that Jess got the ultimately revenge and found someone who viewed her as a human being, who’s feelings were important enough to cherish forever. As for Colt… we’ll see how that hot mess turns out. Stay tuned!!!
