TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ spoilers finds that after getting some.backlash from fans it seems that Kalani Faagata is out to correct everyone’s misconceptions about hers, Asuelu Pulaa’s, and their family’s portrayal of Samoan culture. It seems quite a few people were saying that the family does not do a ‘culturally accurate’ portrayal of Samoan culture.
Kalani is not having it though. She fired off in her most recent instagram post, “I’m on a reality TV show about relationships. I am not on a reality TV show about the ethnography of Samoa. It is not my job nor Asuelu’s to spoon feed fa’asamoa to those with ethnocentric ideologies who specifically watch the show for drama.”
TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ Spoilers: Kalani isn’t having it!
She then went on to say that information about Samoan culture is readily available for anyone out there who wants it. She has a point, just because someone is part of a culture does not automatically mean that they are ambassadors for it.
Not everyone wants to play teacher when it comes to their culture and if they don’t that’s alright. Granted, it might make a bit more sense for the audience coming from someone like Kalani or Asuelu, but they’re really under no obligation to educate us at all.
Kalani went on in the post link to a lot of Samoan charities that actively help Samoan families. Instead of sending hate to her and her family she would rather people send donations. Then, the ultimate shade of it all happened when Kalani mimicked Lisena’s “Just give us the money!” I don’t know about you but I’m laughing!
Kalani seems to have a good sense of humor about all of this, even if she and Asuelu aren’t in the best of spots right now. It seems that against all odds they are still together, don’t worry I’m just as mystified as the next fan. I really don’t know how Kalani puts up with that but she does. We’ll just chalk it up to her having infinite patience, I guess.
Kalani closed her post by saying that if you wanted them to give a culturally and historically accurate portrayal of Samoan culture then the family would be on National Geographic but said that they were far too ratchet for that. Okay we get it Kalani, you’re killing us! But we appreciate you keeping it 100. Stay tuned!!!
