One wealthy TikToker is getting blasted for the newest list that he made and shared with his fans. Tom Cruz, who owns many properties and makes quite a good amount of money in real estate and on TikTok, is getting backlash because of the “Forbes Friends List” that he just compiled.
He made the list in order to show his followers where he is planning on going on his next trips. It is a spreadsheet that shows his friends on TikTok and how much money they make. The categories are broken up into how much money they make a year, how much money they have in bonuses, if they have a spouse or children, and if they have paid time off days.
He said that these friends want to all get together and travel and this is the way that they know who can travel and what they can do. Even though the list just seems to be in jest, his followers were very angered by it all.
TikToker Gets Backlash After Making Ranking Lists
In the list, Tom tells his viewers, “So a few years ago my friends and I started making a spreadsheet breaking down our incomes and availability for travel and I looks like this.” His richest in 2020 friends sheet listed 18 of his friends and how much they make.
“Shawn” was listed first with an income of $5 million and at the end of the list is “Broke Bobby” who makes $125,000 a year. He told his followers that the sheet is very helpful, especially when it is time to travel again. He also pointed out that the sheet “helps to know who’s coming” on these trips so that they can all plan effectively.
Tom then went on to say, “We all still hang out regardless of income. But certain trips, some friends can’t make it. And that’s OK. This list is very pragmatic and a lot of them are saying it’s motivational.
It allows avoiding awkward situations within our friends group, inviting certain friends who may or may not wanna do what we wanna do- especially when it comes to gambling or spending a lot of money.” This list ended up getting a lot more attention than Tom would have ever thought.
One Twitter user wrote, “Did anyone notice how the top earners don’t have to worry about PTO or bonuses, low paying jobs will have you working for pennies and begging for sick leave.” Another wrote, “I hope you all notice the income to PTO ratio.
That’s a microcosm of every corporation. Some workers get paid more to work less. The guys with million dollar salaries are getting unlimited PTO while “Broke Bobby” only gets 9 days of PTO.” One more added, “Why did he share this? How did he not immediately lose all his followers? This is one of the cringe-iest things I’ve ever seen on here.”
When these Twitter users followed the link to Tom’s website, they found out that he buys section 8 housing and then sells these properties to land lords who can rent it out at whatever rate they want to use. He is also a land lord to some of these properties. That explains a lot.
