‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Why Is Nick And Sharon’s Long-Awaited Reunion Repeatedly Put On Hold?

‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case)  long-awaited reunion is repeatedly put on hold.

‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: “Shick” Fans Have Been Waiting For Nick To Realize He Still Loves Sharon

The slow burn is fun and romantic. However, this is past a slow burn. While the writers appear to be encouraging anticipation, viewers have become impatient. Their favorite couple is being teased with no foreseeable payoff.

Fans have had to endure countless delayed reunions and several of Nick and Sharon’s mismatched relationships with other people, not to mention the distractions and reservations that always seem to keep them apart.

We were also hoping that something good would come out of that cheesy dream sequence Sharon had about Nick on Valentine’s Day. However, nothing seems to be happening here.

Nick has also had to rescue Sharon numerous times. She’s been kidnapped two times by two different villains in the past couple of months.

After two kidnappings, Nick stands by Sharon when everyone thinks she killed Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). In close conversations, Sharon invites Nick to Europe with her and Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster).

Nick responded by telling her to spend time with just the kids. Then he asked her if he’d ever thought about them getting back together.

Sharon admitted that she did. However, Nick, who said he thought of it also, claimed he couldn’t bear the thought of hurting her again.

Nick said he values their friendship too much to be in a romantic situation where he could potentially hurt her.

He likely hasn’t forgiven himself for causing her pain in the past, such as when he had an affair with Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) while they were married.

‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Nick Is Dragging His Feet

Nick cited their expansive and sordid history as an excuse not to take the leap. If the relationship didn’t work out, it could be detrimental for both of them.

What should have been a significant turning point for Nick and Sharon was an uncomfortable moment in which Sharon’s hopes were once again dashed.

Sharon has longed to reunite with her true love, Nick, for years now, which is a very long time in soap land. Like Sharon, fans don’t want to wait anymore, either.

Soaps are known for their fast pace. While it’s refreshing to watch a more measured and natural portrayal of a couple getting together, this is becoming ridiculous.

It’s become evident that the soap is using every trick in the book to prolong this “slow burn,” or the close “friendship” they share, which is unfortunately becoming tiresome for viewers to watch.

Nick and Sharon clearly have an unbreakable bond, and that’s part of the reason why “Shick” fans have rooted for them for decades.

As it stands, Nick and Sharon’s epic love story is starting to look like a man with a savior complex. He must continually rescue the “damsel in distress,” and in his world, that always seems to be Sharon.

For the sake of Shick fans, we hope the writers rectify this mistake very soon. Fans deserve to see a happy ending between these soul mates that doesn’t involve another kidnapping.
