‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveals that there is at least a temporary calm between the two most vitriolic enemies, Phyllis Summer (Michelle Stafford) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). How long will this peace last?
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Long Standing Rivalry
Y&Rs Phyllis and Diane have been at each other’s throats for ages. In fact, it is probably easier to list what they haven’t fought about than what they have. The list would be much shorter.
They have competed over jobs and positions and lovers. One of the most famous love triangles involved Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Both women have faked their own deaths and framed each other for murder. Every time they interact there are fireworks.
Phyllis sees Diane as the cause of all the trouble in her life. She can’t really see that she has done things wrong and needs to do things differently in the future. It has been easier for her to hold Diane responsible.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: New Path?
Phyllis is finally back and has turned herself into the authorities. She faked her death and framed Diane with the help of Jeremy Stark (James Hyde). When Diane and Phyllis meet at Society, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) anticipates fireworks.
Tucker McCall and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) want to take Diane down. Ashley doesn’t trust her and she wants her out of her brother’s life. Diane is engaged to Jack and is living in the Abbott mansion. She also has a job at Jabot as Chief Talent Officer. They will have to do a lot to get Diane out of their lives.
Tucker finds the EMT Carson (Walter Belenky) and tells Phyllis that he will testify for her if she will agree to cause problems between Jack and Diane. She will need to go on the attack against Diane or she won’t be free from the charges she faces. Phyllis grudgingly agrees because Tucker has the power over her freedom.
When Phyllis and Diane meet for the first time though, things go quite differently. Diane isn’t furious at Phyllis anymore. She knows what a terrible person Stark was and was under his thumb once herself.
She has empathy for Phyllis and tells her that she wants to be on good terms with her. Phyllis is kind in return and thanks Diane for her response.
This is not what Tucker and Ashley wanted, but it seemed to be refreshing for Phyllis. It seemed like she was really glad to get that kind response from Diane.
