The Young and the Restless spoilers relate that Shemar Moore may be known now for his many television roles, but in 1994, he was almost unknown. He was cast on the Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, the brother of Neil Winters. Neil, played by Kristoff St. John was more than just an on-screen brother to Moore, he was truly a best friend. He helped Moore to push his career much further and he gave him the support and trust that he needed at the time. He has talked to many sources about just how much he loved St. John and the memories he has of him

The last time he talked to St. John was back in January. He said that they were texting a lot and he seemed incredibly happy and optimistic. He had been working on a documentary series and was very proud of it. Moore knew that St. John was still very hurt about his son dying, but he didn’t get a sense that he was in a really bad place at that moment.

When Moore got the news that St. John had died, he said it took him quite a bit of time to let it register. He said it was around 6:30 in the morning and he was just getting off a very early flight. He said he got very emotional once it all hit him that St. John was gone. 

Moore shared some very kind words about St. John on Instagram stated that he was his mentor. He helped him when he was scared. He helped to build his confidence on the show and in his career. Moore said that he pushed him to do more and attributes his success on St. John. He said that their relationship was like brothers and he will never forget how St. John pushed him along with his career. He is very fortunate to have met him and worked with him.

Moore and many others took the time to appear on the tribute episodes for St. John and it was a beautiful tribute indeed. Moore was glad that he got to go back to his roots and says that he enjoyed it then and now is very happy with the television that he is doing now. 

The tribute was beautiful and brought tears to our eyes too. We are so happy that the Young and the Restless took the time to remember such an amazing actor and man.
