‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers say that while Three’s Company has always been a problem in the soap world, the dynamic between Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), her lover Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and her love rival is a little different these days. Here’s what she has to say.
In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, actress Michelle Stafford opened up about the possibility of seeing her character bond with her love rival, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) while she is going through her health struggles.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Sharon And Phyllis Bond Like Sisters – Love Rivals Now Supporting One Another?
The actress puts it this way, “I think it would be interesting if Sharon and Phyllis actually had a bond of some sort through the cancer storyline. Or feeling Sharon as a threat but, “Oh, my God, I can’t feel that because she’s sick right now.” I think all of that is interesting to play and I hope to have scenes with Sharon and see what comes of it now.”
Actor Joshua Morrow, who plays Nick Newman, adds that while there’s always the possibility that Nick and Sharon might end up going their separate way (yet again), he doesn’t see that happening this time around. That’s because Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is in the picture and he’s someone who is adamant about showing Sharon that he both loves and cares and wants to support her.
Joshua said in the same interview, “There’s always a threat of that just based on the history and kind of the way soaps go. This seems a little different this time because Nick seems to constantly be promoting Rey to Sharon and he really respects Rey and what he’s providing her, so, um, I could be totally wrong on that but the game plan seems to be that Nick is really counting on Rey to kind of be that rock for her, and Nick will obviously do everything he can to help but I think he’s pretty into Phyllis at the moment and they’re kind of trending in the right direction. But Nick can’t ever seem to turn that page on Sharon and who knows?”
