‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Roger Howarth, who plays Matt Clark aka Mitch Bacall, recently dished to Soap Opera Digest that he was intimidated to work with Eric Braden, who, of course, plays “the Great Victor Newman.”
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Howarth Has Worked with Soap Legends
In the Wednesday, December 3rd episode of Y&R, Victor and Matt had a good, long conversation at Matt’s club, The Shadow Room, in Hollywood.
Howarth admitted that, even though he’s been a daytime actor for decades, he was very nervous about working with Braden.

The actor worked with soap legends Erika Slezak on One Life to Live and Tony Geary on General Hospital. However, he was floored when he learned that he would be working closely with the man they call “The Mustache.”
Howarth first met Braden when he started working on Y&R in the fall, before they shared their first on-screen scene as Matt Clark and Victor Newman.
Howarth beamed,
“I was nervous to meet him. I was genuinely nervous! He’s such an imposing, impressive human being.”
He was immediately charmed by Braden and told SOD that Braden was a wonderful person. Howarth added,
“He could not possibly have been more welcoming to me. I really enjoyed meeting him. It was an absolute pleasure.”
In the recent scene in which Braden and Howarth were embroiled in a high-stakes conflict. Matt kidnapped Victor’s grandson, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams).

Noah has been having sex with Matt’s wife, Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun). Matt is after sweet revenge. First, he ran Noah off the road and caused him to have a serious accident. Afterward, he slipped into a coma.
Noah eventually awakened and discovered that Matt knew that Noah was carrying on a torrid affair with Sienna. Until that point, Noah believed that he and Matt were on good terms.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Braden and Howarth Discovered They Share Common Ground
Matt kidnapped both Noah and Sienna, and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) both arrived in LA to confront him.
Next, it was Victor’s turn. Victor confronted Matt yesterday and offered Matt “anything he wanted” for Noah’s safe return.
Matt refused to cooperate, saying that he wasn’t interested in a simple business transaction. He intended to make Noah suffer.
Victor decided it was time to resort to dangerous methods to ensure that his grandson would arrive home safely. Victor wants to
“turn the tables on his enemy.”
Howarth sang the praises of Braden and exclaimed,
“He’s a pretty terrific actor! It was a lot of fun to go toe to toe with him!”
Additionally, Braden and Howarth discovered they have something else in common besides being both incredible actors.
Howarth is a massive soccer fan. He’s previously admitted to watching about 20 to 30 hours of soccer a week.

He’s a huge Arsenal fan. Howarth never played professionally. However, he traveled internationally with the Puma Shoes U.S. National Soccer Team before his acting career took off.
Before Braden became a soap opera icon, he was a champion soccer player. He even scored the winning goal at the National Challenge Cup as a fullback for the Macabi Soccer Club.
Howarth was very excited and exclaimed,
“The guy’s got his own Wikipedia page about his involvement in soccer! He’s soccer royalty.”
“We both had something to chat about because we have something that we both love in common,”
Howarth smiled.
