‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers document that mixing family and business is often messy. A recent decision leaves Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) without his co-Chief Executive Officer again. However, the seemingly obvious replacement may not earn the anticipated comeback call.
Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) expected her husband to give their son the good news. Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) decision to leave Jabot appeared to fit the hope-for goal Diane and Kyle Abbott Michael Mealor) set in recent months.
They believed Billy was not the right fit and that Kyle deserved to have his title back. Jack disagreed, would not fire Billy, and offered Kyle the Chief Operating Officer slot, which he accepted.
‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Billy Abbott’s Decision Is Psychological
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was written into this storyline for a purposeful reason. Her comment about Billy reverting to habitual thinking patterns created his enlightenment.
It was a soapy stretch, but Chelsea led Billy to think that being at Jabot was similar to a gambling high. Thompson’s character decided that battling Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) was like playing poker in a big game.
Hardcore daytime fans suspect the writing staff wanted to reposition Thompson’s character in a different setting. So, he is off to Chancellor-Winters to help his mother, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Kyle Abbott Still Playing Games
The actual gambler in this scenario is Kyle. Mealor’s character is working an angle that his mother endorsed, with both characters believing Jack would have stopped the plan before it started.
Kyle is using his relationship with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) to undermine Tucker. The gamble involves ferreting information about Tucker’s hostile takeover plan and using it to save Jabot.
Diane believed doing so would make Kyle look good in Jack’s eyes. But Billy’s exit from the family cosmetic business allows Kyle to drop his act.
‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Jack Abbott Inside His Head
Jack believed he was doing right by his brother and son. He allowed Billy to help him run their father’s company, which appeared to benefit all involved.
However, Billy’s perceived self-awareness left Jack unsure of how to handle Kyle. Would he have applied too much pressure on him if was promoted to co-CEO?
If not, might Jack’s decision to have Kyle go harder against Tucker provoke a more significant attack than St. John’s character may be planning? These decisions include high-risk and no guarantee of outcomes on Y&R.
