‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers indicates that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) are moving forward with their plan to divorce. There doesn’t seem to be a way forward for them together. Will they both find love with someone else?
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Kyle’s View
Kyle doesn’t feel that he can forgive Summer. She kept the important secret from her that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was alive. Summer’s mother faked her death and pinned it all on Kyle’s mother, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).
When Summer thought her mother was dead, she was terribly upset and grieving. When she found out her mother was alive, she continued to pretend to grieve as she worked out how to help her mother escape prison.
To Kyle, this was despicable. Summer chose to let him think she was in pain, and she also chose to let Diane suffer needlessly in prison.
Kyle doesn’t think Summer is truly sorry for her actions. He thinks she is just sorry she got caught. While he truly did love her and they overcame so many obstacles together, he can’t let this one go. He feels like he doesn’t know or understand a Summer who could do this to him.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Summer’s View
Summer does really feel badly for hurting Kyle. Her intention was never to cause him pain, but her focus was on saving her mother. He takes it all as a personal attack against him, which it wasn’t. He was hurt in the process, but she did not intend that.
Initially Summer does want to fight for her marriage. She doesn’t want to reconcile with Kyle because she remembers what they had. But then Kyle begins sleeping with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver). To Summer that is a pretty clear indication that he has completely moved on and wants nothing more to do with her.
While she wallows in that a bit, she finally shakes that off and she shakes off the burden of her mother’s actions on her life. She heads to the amusement park and screams it out on the roller coaster.
This opens a new page for Summer–an excitement and zeal for something new and fresh, even if she is not sure what it will be. While a divorce will be heartbreaking for her as well, she can see that it’s time to move forward.
