‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that we now know the full name of the man blackmailing Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). Jesse Gaines Jr. (Jamison Jones) is the one trying to get $3 million out of Ashland and their ties go way back. As it turns out, Jesse’s father worked alongside Ashland, and he knows how Ashland came up with the money to buy those first two television stations.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) also know his name and a little bit about his past, but it appears they aren’t aware of the blackmail quite yet. So who is Jesse Gaines Jr. and what is he blackmailing Ashland with?

If I had to guess, I think Ashland either murdered his father, or accidentally killed him, and used his money to purchases the television stations. Though, if he did that, why would Jesse blackmail him instead of turning him in? Maybe Jesse had a difficult relationship with his father, much the same way Ashland had a troubled relationship with his father.
Perhaps Ashland using that money to purchases the television stations and grow an empire, where Jesse could do nothing and earn $300,000 a year was far more appealing to him that turning Ashland in for the death of his father and not having such a relaxing life.
If that’s not the case, I think my original theory of Ashland killing his mentor for the money and television stations could also be true, and maybe Jesse represented him, or his father did, and after his father passed, the blackmail passed down to him.
Whatever it is, it looks like Jesse is going to get his money, otherwise, Billy is going to run one hell of a story!
