‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has signed up to be Christian Newman’s flag football coach and seems genuinely excited about it. He is so excited in fact that he wants Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) for whatever reason, to be a part of it.
I don’t know if he realizes it or not, but Phyllis doesn’t seem like a kid person. Sure, she loves her kids (who are grown), but since they’ve been back together, I don’t think we’ve once heard or seen Phyllis mention Christian. Still, Nick thought it would be a fun “family” thing and he said even Christian wanted her to be a part of it. Still, that wasn’t enough for Phyllis.

While Phyllis had plenty of excuses (none of which weren’t terrible), it still felt like she was avoiding the “family” part of the conversation. Sure, she has the hotel to run, and she mentioned there were a ton of events that she had to cater to, but how many times would that be during the weekday or at noon on a weekend (assuming that’s when the games were), I mean… she didn’t even ask about what time they were.
Even still, if she didn’t want to coach alongside Nick, she could still attend and support Christian. She didn’t even ask about that either, just that she didn’t want anything to do with it.
To this point, Christian has been like a unicorn… a mythical creature that appears sometimes and it’s cool and exciting, and Nick has seemingly been living at the hotel with Phyllis (or something), so where has Christian been up to this point? We understand that it’s difficult to get kids on the show consistently and whatnot, but it just feels like he’s been forgotten about (much like the rest of the kids on the show that weren’t rapidly aged up).
