‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers share that Melissa Ordway, who plays Abby Winters, recently dished to Soap Opera Digest about how she managed to play every parent’s worst fear when her on-screen son, Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark), was kidnapped.

Abby and her husband, Devon Winters’ (Bryton James) surrogate, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), snatched Dominic due to her severely delusional mental state.
Mariah has been seeing visions of Ian Ward (Ray Wise), and those hallucinations prompted her to steal Dominic away from Abby and Devon.
Ordway spoke to SOD about meeting the new actor playing her son,
“The first day we worked together, there was a bunch of fake snow outside that we were playing with, and I kind of hit him with a couple of snowballs, and we became really good friends.”
The mother and son were having fun building a snowman, but shortly afterward, Dominic went missing, which, of course, was terrifying for Abby.
Ordway continued,
“Abby goes to grab a shovel, and he’s gone. But she thinks he may be playing hide-and-seek because he wanted to play it earlier. So, she thinks it’s a fun game for a little bit.”
She explained,
“Then, after some time passes and she can’t find him anywhere, she starts freaking out. This is not what Dominic would do. He’s a really great listener. If he knows that Abby and Devon are worried about him, he would definitely come out and end the game.”

Eventually, Abby realizes that something is wrong. That’s when Abby starts to wonder if maybe someone snatched him.
Dominic’s mother also worries that he’s cold, and she finds a mitten. From that point, she’s not able to do anything but worry about what happened to her child.
Meanwhile, Mariah and Dominic are playing their own game of hide and seek in her hotel room. That’s when Ian tells Mariah it’s time to leave and move on. Ian promised her that he would take her somewhere so that no one would find them.
Ordway was excited when she read the script,
“I was like, yay me, because I get to act this out!”
The actress is a mother of two daughters, and because of that, she was able to channel Abby’s extreme fear over Dominic’s disappearance.

She shared,
“I mean, if someone even looks at my kid the wrong way, I’m like, ‘Wait, what was that look? What’s going on? Are you being rude to my kid? The mama bear comes out, and you’re like, ‘You can’t talk to my kid that way. And then, thinking about someone actually taking them?! I can’t even imagine. That would just be awful.”
Ordway said that all she had to do was picture something happening to her own child, and she could turn on the waterworks.
The storyline is very close to the actress’s heart. Ordway added,
“It’s funny, because, now, like even if my kids go out back in my house for a while, I’m like, ‘Oh, I need to be able to see them at all times.”
She concluded,
“Like, you just get so scared that something’s going to happen to them because my greatest, greatest gift in life is those two little girls, and you just want to make sure they’re always safe.”
