Say it isn’t so! The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that Gina Tognoni is preparing to say good-bye to the character that she has brought to life for the past five years: Phyllis Summers. There are new reports that say the gorgeous daytime television star is wrapping up her work on the set of the hit show as she prepares to leave Genoa City for good.

Just last month the daytime television world was shocked to find out that Gina was let go from her role. While the producers of The Young and the Restless haven’t flat out said that she was fired, a lot of fans had assumed that she was let go for something that might have happened behind the scenes.

It didn’t take very long for The Young and the Restless producers to find a replacement for Gina. In fact, reports indicated only a few days later that General Hospital star Michelle Stafford would be taking over for Gina. Michelle had actually played Phyllis for years before making the switch to Port Charles in 2013.
Gina took to her Instagram account to share a behind-the-scenes photo of her in her dressing room. It’s safe to say that she is going to miss her job! She captioned the pic with, “Day 1 of my last week. My Heart is feeling the love. My respect for the craft and the space in which we create is important on every level to me. @mattykane1 My flowers Are extraordinary… like you #jerseystrong.”
We are pretty certain that everyone is going to be a ball of emotions before Gina leaves. And while she hasn’t made any comments about her future, one thing is for certain: Gina will be back! If not in Genoa City, then definitely on one of the other daytime soaps. Watch this space.
